Discover a heating and cooling system that's
400% efficient.

What is a Geothermal System?
Geothermal systems are an alternative way to heat and cool your home efficiently. Instead of burning
fossil fuels which can be costly and harmful to the enviroment, geothermal systems use the natural energy
of the earth to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

How do they work?
Throughout the year, outdoor temperatures fluctuate with the changing seasons. However, underground
temperatures do not. In fact, about four to six feet below the earths suface, temperatures remain relatively
constant year-round. A geothermal system, which consists of an indoor unit and a buried earth loop, capitalizes
on these temperatures. In the winter, fluid circulating through the system's earth loop absorbs stored
heat and carries it indoors. The indoor unit compresses the heat to a higher temperature and distributes
it throughout the building. In the summer, the system reverses, pulling heat from the building, carrying
it through the earth loop and depositing it in the cooler earth.

What makes Geothermal systems different from ordinary systems?
Unlike ordinary sytems, geothermal systems do not burn fossil fuels to generate heat, they
simply transfer heat to and from the earth to provide a more efficient, affordable and
enviromentally friendly method of heating and cooling. Typically, electric power is used
only for the unit's fan, compressor, and pump.

What can Minnesota Geothermal Offer?
Minnesota Geothermal, LLC has significant experience with geothermal systems. We can help you design your
system using the latest technology. We can offer different systems depending on your needs, desired comfort
space/land conditions and budget. Our firm is certified by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association
(IGSHPA) for heat pump installations. We are also active members of the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium.

Geothermal Facts:
Putting a geothermal system in a typical home is equal, in greenhouse gas reduction, to
planting an acre of trees.
Current geothermal installations equal 14 million barrels of crude oil saved per year.
Putting a geothermal system in a typical home is equal, in greenhouse gas reduction, to
taking two cars off the road.
If one in twelve California homes installed a geoexchange system, the energy savings
would equal nine new power plants.
